Three Treasures

Simplicity, Humility, Compassion

About

“Here are my three treasures. Guard and keep them! The first is compassion; the second, frugality; the third, refusal to be ‘foremost of all things under heaven.’”

— Laozi, The Dào Dé Jīng, Chapter 67.

Three Treasures is a space to explore wisdom and ethical practices from the world’s great religious and philosophical traditions.

You’ll also find practical advice for modern life, covering everything from mindfulness and meditation to healthy living and minimalism.

About Me

My name is David “Aaron” Helder. I live in Northern Alabama with my cat Freya. In my day job I work as a computer programmer. In my spare time I meditate, volunteer, maintain a flower and vegetable garden, walk, study, read and write. I’ve been a vegan for almost 20 years, and sober for nearly 10.

I’m not a guru, a credentialed scholar, or a perfect practitioner. I’m just someone who cares deeply about ethical living and wants to live a life of service to all beings. I invite you to join me on that journey.
